Director of Tax

Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Our team is growing and we’re seeking an experienced Director of Tax to handle the tax compliance needs of our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare data files and review returns for the Company’s income tax reporting, property tax, sales tax and various state and local tax requirements in accordance with ASC 740
  • Oversee the preparation, review or processing of sales and use tax returns and its related payments
  • Review local statutory books and related tax adjustments, maintain monthly subsidiary records and ledgers for accounts with differences between book and tax treatment; maintain subsidiary ledgers for withholding taxes and allowances, accumulated earnings and profits and previously taxed income
  • Develop and manage transfer pricing documentation and analysis for multi-legal entity org structure
  • Oversee preparation and review timely and accurate tax provisions, tax related account reconciliation, return to provision and tax footnote for quarterly and annual financials
  • Calculate effective tax rate used internally for cash flow forecasting and remittance of estimated tax payments
  • Ensure compliance with tax accounting processes, controls, and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Coordinate all tax reporting, compliance and planning activities with tax advisors and consultants
  • Respond to inquiries from local regulatory authorities and assist in tax audits
  • Primary liaison with other internal and external stakeholders to provide tax advice and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Provide US GAAP tax technical accounting to Finance team
  • Liaise with Finance team to assess implications of present and proposed FASB pronouncements related to accounting for income taxes
  • Advise senior management of the business impact of new tax laws and related income and transaction tax regulations and proposed tax legislations
  • Develop and implement tax aspects of finance and operation processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversees or monitors all operational tax risk management activities of the organization
  • Defend and communicate innovative tax risk management solutions to stakeholders across business lines

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of relevant tax experience in both public accounting and/or industry
  • CPA - Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience on sales and use tax, and United States federal and state and local tax returns
  • Experience with intersection & interaction between partnership and corporate tax structures
  • Experience in complex US and Multi-state tax matters
  • Strong ASC740 technical tax accounting expertise
  • Ability to effectively own and manage concurrent projects, and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations

If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state driver’s license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify People Operations immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.

The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:

  • Extended Sitting or Standing: Capability to sit or stand for extended periods during meetings or events.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skills in using technology, including computers and mobile devices.
  • Driving: Ability to operate vehicle to perform certain job functions. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
