The Director of Events and Community Engagement serves as a dynamic leader and visionary, responsible for enhancing the overall resident experience through strategic programming, events, and partnerships. This role oversees the development and execution of community-wide initiatives that activate public spaces, foster meaningful connections, and reflect the community’s unique identity and values. The Director leads a dedicated team, manages departmental operations and budget, and collaborates with the Board of Directors and local partners to deliver innovative, inclusive, and impactful engagement opportunities. As a key representative and brand ambassador, the Director is committed to building a vibrant, connected, and thriving community through excellence in service, communication, and programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a key community leader dedicated to enhancing the overall resident experience through engaging events, meaningful programs, and impactful communications.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for community programming, events, community space activation, communications, and partnerships aligned with the community’s mission, vision, and values.
- Identify and implement ways to activate community spaces, ensuring they are dynamic, welcoming, and utilized to their fullest potential through diverse programs, pop-up events, and creative initiatives.
- Incorporate arts and cultural elements into programming that reflects and celebrates the community’s identity.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Board of Directors on long-term programming, space utilization, and communication initiatives.
- Lead and support a high-performing team responsible for planning and executing events, programs, and daily operations.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures with a focus on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee community partnerships and sponsorship programs, including identifying opportunities to collaborate with local organizations and businesses.
- Contribute to the development and review of content for communication platforms (website, newsletters, promotional materials, social media) ensuring brand alignment and strategic messaging. Ensure all communications are timely, accurate, and representative of the community’s values and vision.
- Ensure all events, programs, and space activations comply with applicable laws, insurance, and permitting requirements.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor the department’s annual budget, including revenue tracking and variance analysis.
- Act as a brand ambassador, fostering connections and creating opportunities that strengthen community identity and engagement.
- Respond to resident inquiries in a timely, professional manner, reinforcing a high standard of service.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the success and vibrancy of the community.
REQUIREMENTS
- A leader aligned with our vision and values.
- Five or more years of leadership in community management, municipal government, nonprofit, community engagement, or similar fields.
- Strong background in programming, engagement, communications, and budget management.
- Demonstrated experience in activating public or community spaces to foster resident engagement.
- Effective leadership, organizational, and conflict resolution skills with experience managing people.
- Proficiency in Windows-based computer programs.
- Bachelor’s degree or related certifications/designations (highly preferred).
- Extensive knowledge of sponsorship programs, community partnerships, event planning, and communications strategy (highly preferred).
- Ability to work flexible, full-time hours including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Pre-employment drug screen, driving record, credit, and background checks required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical requirements can vary, but generally, they may include:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and move items up to 25 lbs. (e.g., event materials, signage, supplies).
- Mobility: Must be able to walk and move freely across large indoor and outdoor event spaces, including uneven surfaces or stairs.
- Working Conditions: Must be able to work in both indoor office environments and outdoor settings in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Ability to work flexible, full-time hours including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Personal Protective Gear: Occasional use of safety gear (e.g., gloves, reflective vests) may be required during event setup or when working with vendors.
- Extended Sitting or Standing: Must be able to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods during meetings and events, as well as stand and walk for long durations during events.
- Manual Dexterity: Must have sufficient hand and finger dexterity to operate computers, mobile devices, and event-related equipment.
- Driving: Valid driver’s license required; must be able to drive to off-site meetings, event locations, or partner organizations as needed. (Please note: We will request and review an MVR at the time of hire and on a periodic basis thereafter to ensure that employees maintain a satisfactory driving status.)
